PYRAMID CLUB BROADCAST: MAEROERO
MAEROERO was composed with the intention of exploring the sense of our forest being shared by other worldly entities. Inspired by Māori folklore, specifically maeroero and patupairahe, Urn use a mixture of taonga pūoro and modular synthesis to express the thin veil between forest life and give a sense of paranormal energies/ entities that may, or may not, have existed in the past or even still today.

Urn is Thomas Carroll (taonga pūoro) and Rob Awa (modular synthesis). Urn is a merging of their common sonic approaches to music to try and encapsulate a unique blend of traditional Māori music with otherworldly synthesis; drones, ambient, textures, and samples.
