PUPUKE MOANA & TE AUAUNGA
These broadcasts accompanied the exhibition ‘They covered the house in stories’, curated by Amy Weng at Te Tuhi Gallery, 29 May – 22 August 2021.
Artists Eleanor Cooper and Xin Cheng have been ambling around Pupuke Moana (Lake Pupuke) and Te Auaunga (Oakley Creek) over the past few seasons, exploring tales of inter-species kinship and mutualisms, reaching out to locals and listening to the more-than-human in suburban Tāmaki-makau-rau. In June 2021 they prepared a two-piece audio work for broadcast weaving together the sonic textures of suburban waterways. The works also share stories told by local poets, community conservation volunteers and scientists.
